NFL Week 15 schedule changes: Updated game dates, start times as teams deal with COVID-19 outbreaks

The NFL announced Friday afternoon that three Week 15 games were rescheduled due to COVID-19 outbreaks. The Browns, Rams and Washington Football Team have each placed more than 20 players on their COVID rosters.

“We made these schedule changes based on medical advice and after discussing them with the NFLPA, as we are seeing a new highly communicable form of the virus this week, resulting in a substantial increase in cases across the league.” the NFL said in a statement. “We continue to make decisions in consultation with medical experts to ensure the health and safety of the NFL community.”

“Based on medical advice, we have instituted additional protocols as well as revised testing protocols to reintegrate players and staff who tested positive,” Goodell said. “We have also considered whether certain games should be rescheduled in light of current conditions.”

Goodell added that the NFL does not anticipate those three games will have to be rescheduled again for later in the week, noting that the league “will do everything possible, in accordance with underlying health and safety principles, to play our full schedule within of the current 18 weeks “.

“We continue to work with the NFLPA and our respective medical experts to evaluate and make appropriate modifications to our protocols to ensure that we can complete what has been an exciting and competitive season,” Goodell said.
